Water Cycles Expeditions is a social enterprise focused on inspiring a global movement to reconnect people and water through cycling.
There are approximately 2 billion bikes in the world. We believe this represents a latent force for understanding and tackling the global water crisis. We run adventurous bike tours for all types of riders with partners around the world. Our tours foster a sense of adventure and community to inspire action on local and global water challenges. We are creating a global network of citizen scientists to use bikes to crowdsource data on water risks and values, and to build an atlas of innovative ways to adapt and thrive in a changing climate.
Water Cycles Expeditions is an initiative of the Blue Range Labs incubator based at the University of Waterloo and Oxford. Contact us at info@watercycles.bike

Our First Expedition
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA & THE COLORADO RIVER
In Collaboration with Studio Future & Guy Loftus
THE JOURNEY
Team building which was followed by a stunning, mostly downhill journey into Coachella Valley.
JOSHUA TREE
Circumnavigating a vanishing sea from the north shore along the east edge, visiting refuges for artists and migratory birds.
SALTON SEA
Crisscrossing three valleys - the Imperial, Palo Verde and Yuma - each taking different paths to respond to climate change.
A STORY OF 3 DESERT VALLEYS
THE PURPOSE
Creative routes along rivers, lakes, canals, and irrigation valleys. We take a “bikes-eye” view to gain new perspective on water, people and ecosystems at the leading edge of climate change.
ADVENTURE FOR ALL LEVELS
Bike tours that benefit and build community. Our tours will be about fun with purpose, creating a team of citizen scientists to crowdsource data on water risks and build an atlas of innovative ways to adapt and thrive in a changing climate.
COMMUNITY & CITIZEN SCIENCE
As the first trip, the session offered a workshop on wheels, crafting the strategy for business and science.
